On Feeling Enough

Last year I found my happy place ath the barre. I had recently moved from country again. Not knowing anybody… barre was an excuse to wake up early, leave the house and try things I would never do by myself (I’m talking push ups and planks) At first, it was hard to take it seriously because of those tiny weights and apparently innocent yoga poses. Well, let’s just say there wasn’t nothing innocent about it: I remember mentally cursing my fave instructor during upper body work, and feeling super proud (and sore) after. The freaky hamster that leaves in my head seemed to calm down. You’ll see, barre requires a mind body connection that makes you to be present in a way that almost feels like meditation to me.

I was obsesed, but also good at it, so when I saw the chance to become an instructor I went for it. I had the passion and the commitment. I dedicated all my time to practice and study in order get my certifications to the point of completely abandoning this blog. I started to develop my own style and worked hard to deliver the best experience for my clients, it was simply touching when they reached to me and told me how much they enjoyed my classes!

But then, the work the environment got weird:  I wasn’t getting the support I needed, quite the opposite, I was constantly bringed down and never enough. And please note, I don’t need a pat on the back everytime I do something right to keep me motivaded. It was emotionally draining and not fun anymore, so I decided to quit to become a freelancer. It was a stressing process, however feeling excited about my classes again is priceless. I work harder now and continue to study to help my clients reach their goals and reconnect with their bodies, all of it in an inclusive environment, where they can feel enough, accomplished and proud of what they’re capable.

With so many changes going on, both in my life and in the digital media, I questioned myself if blogging was still worth it, if I would ever get somewhere with it. And then something I could only wish for happened: a brand my skin actually loves and which values I totally share contacted me to be their ambassador!

All I can say is this: be passionate, be prepared, and don’t let anyone (not even yourself) make you doubt of your talents.
